Community Capacity Building in Highland Perthshire
The Community Capacity Worker for Highland Perthshire is based in
the Birnam Institute in Birnam, Dunkeld. The Highland
Perthshire area covers more than 1,000 square miles of Perth and
Kinross and includes the larger communities of Dunkeld and Birnam,
Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and the areas surrounding them, the
communities bordering the A9 as far as Calvine in the north and
Kinloch Rannoch and Rannoch Station in the west.
It is the Capacity Worker's job to help individuals, groups and
organisations to identify the issues affecting their communities
and to support them in improving the quality of life in those
areas.
Help and support comes in a variety of forms:
- Where and how to access funding
- Help with grant application forms
- Advice and guidance on setting up a group
- Constitutions
- Planning and evaluating what your group does
- Where to get further help
Some groups have been supported to:
- Set up a Community Development Trust
- Apply for funding
- Consult the rest of the community about their ideas
- Plan events
You and your group could get:

- advice and guidance on a way forward
- funding information
- committee skills
The Highland Perthshire Community Learning and Development
Partnership comprises representatives from community groups and
statutory bodies. Its current
Action Plan covers work planned and ongoing with young
people, adults and community groups and organisations.
