Community Capacity Building in North Perth
There are two Community Capacity Workers for North Perth. For
the communities of Fairfield, Muirton and North Muirton the worker
is based in Fairfield Neighbourhood Cente. For the
communities of Letham, Tulloch and Doubledykes the worker is based
in Letham Community Learning Centre.
Building Community Capacity supports:
- People to be confident, skilled & active members of the
community.
- Communities to be active & have more influence.
- Community organisations to get access to resources & to
deliver services effectively.
- Community organisations to plan, manage & assess their work
effectively.
- Community organisations to include a wide range of people in
their work.
- Community members, groups and organisations to develop
productive networks & relationships.
Recent Capacity Building Activities in North Perth
- Support to the North Perth Community Learning & Development
Partnership
- Community engagement undertaken throughout Letham and North
Muirton
- Community group supported to look at gaining charitable
status
- Community members supported to form and facilitate a Community
Circle
- Support to community members to form a Community Council
- Community groups and organisations supported with funding
advice, project ideas, setting up groups and promoting
activities.
Support comes in a variety of forms:
- Where and how to access funding
- Help with grant application forms
- Advice and guidance on setting up a group, constitutions,
planning and evaluating what your group does.
- Access to training
- Access to resources to support your community group or
organisation to progress
The North Perth Community Learning and Development
partnership comprises representatives from community groups and
statutory bodies. It's current
Action Plan [pdf: 133KB] covers work with young people, adults
and community groups and organisations in the area.
