Community Capacity Building in South Perth
The Community Capacity Worker for South Perth is based in the
Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre, Perth. The South Perth patch
covers the diverse areas of South Perth City which includes
Craigie, Moncreiffe, Friarton and South Inch, as well as Scone and
The Carse of Gowrie.
It is the Capacity Worker's job to help individuals, groups and
organisations to identify the issues affecting their communities
and to support them in improving the quality of life in those
areas.
Help and support comes in a variety of forms:
- Where and how to access funding.
- Help with grant application forms.
- Advice and guidance on setting up a group constitutions
planning and evaluating what your group does.
- Where to get further help.
Examples of recent work in the South Perth area by
Community Capacity Building has included:
- Support to the South Perth City Partnership which comprises of
representatives from community groups and statutory bodies.
Its current Action Plan covers planned and ongoing work with young
people, adults and community groups and organisations.
- Community Engagement exercise in Errol, in partnership with PKC
Environment Service.
- Development of Sports and Arts activities for young people
across South Perth, in partnership with PKC Youth Services.
- Developing a video conference for Scone Scouts to link up with
Scone, Australia.
- Supporting an engagement project using photography with
Moncreiffe Primary School and the wider community, looking at
residents perceptions of where they live and using this as a
planning tool.
