Council records
The Council collections span over 800 years, created by the different predecessors of Perth & Kinross Council. You can download summaries of the different collections from the downloads list on the right
They include the
City and Royal Burgh of Perth
We have charters dating from 1210 and court and council minutes dating from 1500; building records, which include plans of buildings erected or altered between 1877-1980; registers of deeds, which date from 1566 and record transactions and disputes; the burgh's burial registers from the 1790s. The variety of council papers deal with many themes and subjects including

There are also departmental papers recording the developing and changing functions of councils, including responsibilities for such as transport, utilities and amenities.

Small burgh records
are the surviving records of the burghs of
Most of the burgh records cover the 19th and most of the 20th centuries. They contain information about the activities and responsibilities of the burgh councils.

County records
County records date from the 17th century and cover Perthshire and Kinross-shire. These include commissioners of supply records and those of the highway commissioners, valuation rolls and electoral rolls, school records, and parish council records including information about poor relief and public health before 1930. There are also records of roads and bridges, licensing and public health.

District council records
District council records date from the 1930s to the 1970s and cover Perth, Central, Eastern and Highland District Councils. The records of the Western District Council have been transferred to Stirling.
