The Atholl Experience

The result of meticulous research into the Atholl area is now available at Perth & Kinross Council Archive.

MS249 The Atholl Experience collection

John Kerr has devoted the last 45 years to exploring the glens of Blair Atholl, Struan and Tenandry. Combined with meticulous searches through sources in national and local repositories, the information he found has now been collated, along with 2700 photographs, into this extensive collection. Finally, from the 13th century to the beginning of the 20th century, histories of the parishes, farms and estates of Atholl can be rediscovered.

The collection is logically divided into 42 volumes contained in 93 boxes in a mixture of subject and geographical areas. John's wife, Patricia, undertook the task of transcribing everything onto computer, as well as scanning all the photographs. The result of their combined labours is a rich resource for anyone interested in Atholl in particular and in Scottish history in general.
