Women's Sources in the Archive
You can search the database by:
- Simply browse through the pages and if you see a collection that might contain the information you are after, click on the blue reference number. This will bring up the record which shows what kind of information is held in the collection.
- search by all categories or from the dropdown list
- in the 'title' field, enter one word eg Blairgowrie, house, marriage. If you use this field, we recommend that you leave the search on 'all categories'.
- Alternatively, you can leave the 'title' field blank and choose a category from the drop-down list and press the search button.
If you are successful a hit list will appear of collections that fit into the category. then you can click the blue reference number to take you to the database record
The record will show you the reference number of the collection or item, the collection title, a description of the record or records in the collection and their covering dates.
From the record:
- to return to your hit list, press the back to list link
- to make a fresh search, click back to list then change to all categories and click the reset button
If your search is successful, the next step is to make a note of the reference numbers and visit the Archive to look at the documents themselves.
