Community archives
Caring for your records
We've always thought of ourselves as a Community Archive as much
as a Council Archive; we welcome collections from local
individuals, organisations and communities.
We're also happy to help people who have their own
archival collections. We can advise on how best to store your
documents, maps, photos and electronic records. We can point
you in the direction of conservation professionals if an item
requires treatment - we can even show you how best to arrange and
list your collection so that it makes sense not just to you but to
future generations.
And if you'd like your collection to be accessible to the whole
world, we can also help you create your own virtual archive!
Creating community archives
We all need to make sure that all sections of society are
remembered and represented, so we're starting to look at ways
to help create collections with minority and younger
communities.
If you or your group would like to discuss how we can
work together to ensure the preservation of the histories and
cultures of all our communities - send us an email or give us a call.
Contact us even if you would simply
like to find out more about the ways in which we can work
together.
