Children and young people at the library - things to know
How do I join?
Children of any age can join the library and it's free. Collect
a joining form and ask your parent or the person who looks after
you to fill it in and sign it. We will ask to see something with
the adult's name and address on it, for example a driving licence
or a rent book. You will then be given your own library
card.
What can I borrow?
You can borrow books, CDs, book/tape packs and DVDs. There is a
charge of £2.80 to borrow DVDs.
How many items can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 20 items and keep them for 3 weeks.
You can keep them for longer if no-one else is waiting for them.
Just bring the items in or telephone us to renew
them.
What happens if I forget to return them on time?
A reminder letter will be sent to you. There is a small charge
of 55p to cover the cost of the postage.
What happens if I lose my library card?
Tell us. We will replace it.
How do I find the books I want?
You will find signs on the library shelves to guide you. We also
have computers that list all the items we have in the library. The
staff can show you how to use them.
Suppose I cannot find what I am looking for?
Ask for help.
Can you keep a book for me?
Yes and it's free. Complete a request card and we will let you
know when the book is ready to collect.
