Bookbug
What is Bookbug?
Bookbug is the book sharing programme delivered in
partnership by Scottish Book Trust, local authorities and health
trusts. It was launched on 30 June 2010, replacing Bookstart
in Scotland. Bookbug encourages parents to share books with their
children from as early an age as possible to inspire a love of
reading in every child.

There are three fantastic free packs of books for young
children in Perth and Kinross:
* Bookbug baby bag for young babies (given out by health
visitors)
* Bookbug toddler bag for toddlers (given out by health
visitors)
* Bookbug pirate bag for 3 year olds (given out at nurseries and
libraries)
There is also a free book for Primary 1 children, which is
given out in schools during the autumn term.
How do I get a Bookbug pack?
Libraries, health staff and nurseries in Perth and Kinross
work together to try to make sure that all families receive
their packs. If by any chance you missed getting a Bookbug pack,
then pop in to your
local library and collect one.
Our libraries welcome babies as soon as they are born and provide a
fantastic resource of board books,
Bookbug Rhymetime sessions and
Bookbug's Library Challenge.
