play@home
What is play@home?
play@home is a programme that supports parents in establishing
daily health-related routines and good patterns of movement in
their children and can be introduced from birth. play@home
originated in the Waikato Region of New Zealand, and was adapted
for use in Fife, through a partnership between Fife Council
Education Service and NHS Fife.
NHS Health Scotland is now promoting the use of this programme
throughout Scotland. The play@home programme is presented in 3
books:
- the baby book (yellow) for children from birth to one year
- the toddler book (green) for children from one to three years
and
- the pre-school book lilac) for children from three to five
years
How do I get a play@home book?
In Perth and Kinross the books are given out to parents in the
appropriate
Bookbug pack:
- the baby play@home book in the Bookbug baby pack, given out by
health visitors
- the toddler play@home book in the Bookbug toddler pack, given
out by health visitors
- the pre-school play@home book in the Bookbug pirate pack, given
out via nurseries.
Libraries, health staff and nurseries in Perth and Kinross work
together to try to make sure that all families receive their packs.
If by any chance you missed getting a Bookbug pack and play@home
book then ask your health visitor or pop into your local
library.
