The Comfort Zone

The Comfort Zone is in the AK Bell Library. It came about as awareness about literacy issues has increased.

Perth and Kinross Libraries have tried to make the Comfort Zone exactly what it says- a very comfortable area. Unlike the rest of the library, the books are displayed face on at a more accessible height.

The books are short, they carry abridged stories and they have reader friendly text size. There are beautiful, pictorial non-fiction books as well as The Sun and Daily Mirror newspapers and some popular magazines. These resources can be used by anyone looking for a quick read but are particularly chosen to help adults develop their reading skills.

The Comfort Zone is close to the enquiry desk so that anyone can get help quickly. Staff are happy to discuss your needs or answer any questions readers may have.

The Comfort Zone is also close to our talking books (books on tape/CD) and our range of CDs, DVDs and computer games.  Although there are charges for these items the rates and loan periods are very reasonable.

Look out for the Comfort Zone sign next time you are in the library!

Building on the success of the Comfort Zone in AK Bell Library, Blairgowrie Library now has its own, with plans to develop another area in Crieff Library.
