Prison Library Services
HM Prison, Perth currently has a library of over 5,000 books supplied by Perth and Kinross Libraries.
Prisoners can visit the library regularly and use the library for recreational reading and learning support.
There are books on all subjects and the stock includes a 'Quick Read' section which is of particular interest to literacy learners.
The prison library staff work in partnership with Learning Centre staff in a project called 'Dear Dads' where prisoners have the opportunity to select books for their children, read and record the stories on to audio tape or CD, then send the book and audio book packs home to their families.
