Libraries supporting literacy
Perth and Kinross Libraries have a member of staff available to
supply learners and tutors with resources to help adults to improve
their reading, writing and numeracy.
The Literacy Development Officer can:
- support library users in how to use library services,
- advise on available resources,
- arrange for resource collections to be delivered to groups in
the community,
- help support developing readers to read for information and
pleasure.
What resources do we have to offer?
- Books - 'Quick Reads' in fiction and non-fiction available
in both standard or large print.
- Audio packs - containing a printed book with a reading of the
book on CD and tape.
- Educational games - to help with spelling and
numeracy.
- Interactive software - including Wordshark and
Numbershark.
- Internet access - offering access to BBC RaW and other
websites.
The
Library's Literacy Development Officer works with the Perth and
Kinross Adult Literacy and Numeracy Partnership.
