Mental Wellbeing
Books On Prescription
Children, young people, and their families may benefit from
"Books In Mind" our collection of self-help books recommended
by NHS health professionals. They cover a range of
emotional and behavioural issues, including:
- ADHD
- Anger
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Eating Disorders
- Parenting
- Self Esteem
- Relaxation
The books are available on presentation of a prescription from
your health worker and can also be borrowed without prescription by
library members. If you are not already a member of the
library, simply show your prescription to staff and they will enrol
you.
"Books In Mind" is provided by Libraries in partnership with NHS
Tayside Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. A similar
scheme is planned for adults and a collection of self-help
books for adults, recommended by NHS Tayside Adult Mental Health
Services, is available for library members to borrow. Please view
the list of available books (pdf: 35kb) to see if
there are any titles of interest.
Although these books can help, they may not be useful for everyone.
If you are still experiencing problems you should visit your GP or
health professional for further advice.
Self help and further information on dealing with emotional
problems is also available from the NHS recommended website,
Moodjuice.
