The Perth and Kinross online reference library now includes the world famous Encyclopaedia Britannica Online Library Edition with over 70,000 articles on a range of subjects, including links to journal articles and relevant websites. The online encyclopaedia comes in three different versions, depending on the user:

 Britannica Online Junior logo and external link to online encyclopaedia resources for primary school pupils (opens in new window).
The information presented in Britannica Junior is most suitable for Primary school pupils (ages 5 - 11).
 Britannica Online Student logo and external link to online encyclopaedia resources for secondary school students (opens in new window).
The information presented in Britannica Student is most suitable for Secondary school pupils (ages 12 - 18).
 Encyclopaedia Britannica Online logo and external link to online encyclopaedia resources for adults (opens in new window).
The information presented in Encyclopaedia Britannica is most suitable for adults and older students (ages 18+).

It includes encyclopaedias, dictionaries and a range of subject specific titles covering everything from Aaron's Beard to ZZ Top. KnowUK logo and external link to KnowUK electronic reference library, opens in new window. For information about the UK, KnowUK is the place to look. This electronic reference library is made up of over 100 of the best UK specific reference works. You can search across the entire database, or focus on a specific title or subject. Topics covered include health, education, the law, arts, sport, general knowledge and much more. As well as the reference books, you are also guided to authoritative websites offering information on all aspects of living in Britain to-day. Click the KnowUK logo or text link above and when prompted, type in your library or smart card number.

NewsUK logo and external link to NewsUK reference resources, opens in new window. National and International news from over 50 of the country's best national and regional newspapers can be found at NewsUK. As well as recent editions, you can search for news stories from previous years. Oxford Dictionary of National Biography logo 55,000 biographies of people who shaped the history of the British Isles from earliest times right up to 2002. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography is an outstanding reference work. You can search by keyword or place, field of interest, surname or simply browse. A must for all historians, young and old.
