SOME THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DAVID SCOTT MURRAY
David was the son of Peter Murray and his wife Margaret Smith
David was educated at the High School of Dundee
David went on to study at South Kensington where he won a
medal
David returned to Dundee as an assistant at his former school
David went on to Morgan Academy in Dundee where he served as Art
Master for 10 years
David was appointed Drawing Master at Perth Academy in 1899 a post
he held until his retiral in June 1927
David produced a suite of lithographic prints of old Perth vennels
which was printed by Leslie of Perth and published in March
1920
David was a founder member of the original Perthshire Art
Association
David exhibited in Perth and Dundee as well as at the Royal
Scottish Academy
David was a great champion in the movment to have an Art Gallery
erected in Perth and lived just long enough to see Perth Art
Gallery and Museum opened in August 1935
David is buried in Wellshill Cemetery in Perth
