SOME THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CHARLES ANDREW SELLAR
Charles was the son of James Annand Sellar (an Episcopalian
Clergyman) and his wife Margaret Ann Tyrell
Charles graduated with a Master of Arts degree from Edinburgh
University
Charles was originally destined to follow a legal career
Charles had his studio at 58 Tay Street Perth from about 1901,
sharing it with Thomas Wyman Brown from 1911 to 1926
Charles' studio was taken over in 1930 by
David Prophet Ramsay
Charles was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of
Painters in Watercolour (RSW)
Charles worked in both oil and watercolour and painted portraits
and landscapes
Charles exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Scottish
Society of Painters in Watercolour annual exhibitions as well as
with the Perthshire Art Association on whose Committee he also
served
Charles won three bronze medals at the 1904 Perth Arts and Crafts
Exhibition to which he only submitted four works
