Dr Francis Buchanan White (1842 - 1894) and members of the Perthshire Society of Natural Science collected the specimens during the period 1860 to 1920.
14,000 pressed plants were collected in the old county of Perthshire.
The collection contains specimens of wild flowering plants as well as ferns, horsetails and clubmosses. There are many interesting specimens and rare plants. A few are now extinct in Perthshire and even throughout Britain.
