Exhibition of 19th century objects illustrating the history of
Alyth and area
Alyth overlooks the countryside of Strathmore, an area rich in
farming history. The ground floor gallery presents a fascinating
display of tools and equipment associated with this aspect of
Alyth's history.
The first floor gallery presents pictures and objects reflecting
life as it was in and around Alyth. Don't miss the drunks' cart and
the display about Alyth Post Office.
New for 2010 is "A Long Exposure" a fascinating look into life in
Alyth and Eastern Perthshire drawn from the huge Laing Photographic
Collection, featuring the output of three generations of the Laing
family of photographers. Watch the DVD of select images or search
the touchscreen which has around 800 digitised images available to
look at. If you can help identify any of the people, events or
places in the images please complete the feedback forms.
