Education for Citizenship

In Perth & Kinross it is recognised that education for citizenship within the school curriculum is fundamental in developing a healthy and vibrant culture of democratic participation.  Our schools and early education settings make a valuable contribution to the process of education for active, responsible citizenship by involving our young people in a wide variety of participatory activities which promote and foster the need to be thoughtful, responsible citizens who respect and care for others, the natural world and the environment.

Citizenship is a lifelong process where our young people continually enhance their understanding of the world around them and the multiple roles they have in their local, national and global communities.  The acquisition of knowledge and the development of personal and social skills learnt through experience and interaction with others, is enabling our young people to be disposed to be active and responsible citizens both now and later in their lives.
