Secondary School Enrolment
Is Your Child Transferring To Secondary School In August
2012?
The next school session begins on Tuesday 14 August
2012.
Parents/carers of children who are transferring to secondary school
education on Tuesday 14 August 2011 will be advised
by letter during week commencing 9 January 2012 of the school
to which their child will transfer. If parents/carers then
decide to request to send their child to another secondary school,
a Placing Request application must be completed and submitted by
15 March 2012.
Any pupil who attends a primary school other than the one proposed
by the Authority (ie, as a result of a placing request), and who is
due to transfer to a secondary school will be offered a place at
the secondary school in whose catchment area he/she lives.
The
school cluster list [pdf 60KB] indicates the secondary
school to which primary pupils will normally transfer.
Placing Requests
Education Authorities have a duty to grant
placing requests wherever possible. We will try to grant
your request, provided there are places at the school you
choose. Requests should be made on the appropriate form by
15 March 2012.
Placing request application forms [pdf 18KB] and further
information can be obtained from any Perth & Kinross Council
school, from the address detailed below.
Any requests made after this date will still be considered, but it
is possible that places in certain schools may no longer be
available.
It should be noted that where a successful placing request is made
parents/carers must accept full responsibility for
the arrangement and cost of transport to and from the school.
Information Available To Parents
If you have just moved to the area and want to register
your child for secondary school you will need to take your child's
birth certificate and also your Council Tax Assessment
Letter/Book and a recent utility bill as proof that you live
permanently at your address, as well as completing the
registration form [pdf 252KB]. The
registration form is also available in Polish [pdf:
388KB]. If you are registering at a denominational
school and your child has been baptised you should also take their
baptismal certificate.
Basic information on the provision of school education in Perth and
Kinross, including the Authority's placing arrangements, can be
downloaded from Perth & Kinross Council's website www.pkc.gov.uk, or obtained from
