English as an Additional Language (EAL) Service
The English as an Additional Language Service (EAL) is a
peripatetic service working across nursery, primary and secondary
schools. It consists of two EAL Teachers, two Polish
Community Workers and a part-time Community Learning Assistant
(Urdu, Punjabi) who work in partnership with schools and other
agencies to help them meet the needs of bilingual pupils and their
families in ways that are educationally and socially
inclusive.
The EAL Service aims to help schools make the curriculum more
accessible to, and inclusive of, pupils who are learning through
English as an additional language in order to improve their
learning outcomes and experiences. The team works with

effective race equality practice.
