Free School Meals
Application forms for free school meals and assistance with
school clothing/footwear are now available for school session
2011/2012 commencing 16 August 2011.
Forms and guidance notes [pdf 88KB] are available online,
from all Perth & Kinross schools and Pullar House
reception.
Please note that evidence from Jobcentre Plus must be dated after 1
July 2011. Award notices from HM Revenue and Customs (TC602)
must be valid for tax year 2011/2012.
Any approved awards for assistance with school clothing/footwear
will not be paid out until towards the end of July.
Who is eligible for Free School Meals?
You can claim free school meals for your child(ren) if
you are receiving:
- Income Support (IS)
- Income based Job Seeker's Allowance (IBJSA)
- Any income related element of Employment and Support
Allowance
- Child Tax Credit (CTC), but not Working Tax Credit, and your
income is less than £15,860 (as assessed by HM Revenue and
Customs)
- Child Tax Credit (CTC) and Working Tax Credit (WTC) and your
income is less than £6,420 (as assessed by the Inland
Revenue)
- If you are between 16 and 18 years old and receive any of these
benefits in your own right, you can claim free school meals for
yourself.
- You may also be eligible if you are an asylum seeker receiving
support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

Can I have my Free School Meals
entitlement backdated?
No, Free School Meal claims will not be backdated and
entitlement will start from the date applications are processed by
the Education & Children's Services Department in Pullar
House.
