Secondary School Meals
Food offerings in our schools have moved on significantly in the
last few years and this work in progress is a process of continuous
improvement.
Cashless Catering operates in all secondary schools and is
accessed via your
National Entitlement Card (NEC).
Whilst we are governed by healthy improvement legislation, it's the
young people at school that really help drive our service.
Regular consultation and feedback endeavours ensure that our
development focus continues to meet the priorities of pupils.
The photographs provide a flavour of just some of the improvements
we have undertaken.

The external kiosks offer a new dimension to lunch
time provision and were developed in partnership with pupils.
They complement the existing cafeteria arrangements and
contribute to the wider social aspirations of pupils offering
variety, speed of service, a place to be free and be seen!

In our new campuses we have increased the effective
number of food outlets by introducing in addition to the main meal
counters, fresh food and drinks vending, electronic pre-order
kiosks (offering prioritised pick-up at point of service), and
a dedicated hot and cold snack kiosk, as well as mobile
counters. The latest addition now extends choice on selective
days through the introduction of a barbecue - needless to say the
comments are 'great'!
Our operational partners, Tayside Contracts offer a quality service
with dedicated staff influencing the menu selection - these valued
people converse with our young clientele every day and know what
they want - as well as what's good for them.

Tayside Contracts have an imaginative and award winning procurement
team who constantly scour and negotiate with the market place for
new and interesting products - fresh and local is an important part
of this provision and tasting roadshows are also a frequent
occurrence. Their Food and Nutrition Co-ordinator ensures
that our overall offering meetings the nutritional standards
required.

Excellent promotional activity regularly takes place and the dining
environments are continually improved. With further
developments including baguette bars, pasta and pizza specialities
and party platters all in the planning process, the school dining
arrangements are the educated choice for break and lunch time
eating.
