A Framework for Physical Education

Creating a Curriculum for Excellence: A Framework for Physical Education is an overarching framework for physical education within the context of Health and Wellbeing as set out in Curriculum for Excellence.  This physical education (PE) framework gives clear guidance on what we would like children and young people to learn in, about and through PE.  Schools should make effective use of this resource to ensure they best address the learning needs of children and young people and to ensure there is effective use of school facilities, resources and staff expertise.

The framework is for all practitioners who work with children and young people to support the delivery of a coherent physical education curriculum from 3 - 18.  The framework should be interpreted in such a way as to ensure that learning needs can be met through partnership working within and across the learning community.
