Interventions are planned strategies which aim to promote positive
learning experiences and support psychological wellbeing. The
psychologist may be directly involved in implementing the
intervention, or may work alongside others who are delivering the
intervention. Interventions are informed by evidence-based practice
and subsequent evaluation of the outcomes. Examples of intervention
include:
- solution focussed work with a young person
- EMDR for young people who have suffered trauma
- Use of video interaction guidance (VIG) to support a family to
manage a child's behaviour or to support staff
- Peer-assisted learning, eg Paired Reading, Checking Chums
- Conselling to support a family or young person
- Supporting the development of Nurture Groups
- Group based approaches with young people, eg Seasons for
Growth; Friends for Life
