School travel plan
The School Travel plan is a strategy developed by each school to encourage and promote more active journeys to school for both pupils and staff.
Encouraging children to travel independently helps them to develop life skills such as road safety and increases their confidence.
The purpose of the school travel plan is to reduce the necessity for the school run, which, as well as easing congestion at the school gate, will reduce the number of vehicles on roads around the school, which in turn is safer for children who walk and cycle to school.
The School Travel plan is developed by a School Travel and can contribute to many differnt aspects of the school curriculum . It is the key to improving road safety near or on routes to school.
