Youth Council and Youth Fora
Last updated | 28/06/2010
Local youth fora are set up with young people to discuss any issues
young people encounter in their local community and work out what
action they might take to push their issue forward. It is an
opportunity for young people to have their say and to give their
input to local services or other issues that affect them.
Many youth fora raise funds for young people to have disco's, go
out on activities, etc.
Through a local youth forum there is an opportunity for anyone who
is interested to join the Perth and Kinross Youth Council.
The Perth and Kinross Youth Council is a group of young people from
all over Perth and Kinross who are elected from either youth fora
or school pupil councils. The Youth Council meet every 6
weeks to discuss any issues from young people in Perth and Kinross
and is linked to the Perth and Kinross Lifelong Learning Committee
through a Councillor who attends Youth Council meetings.
The Perth and Kinross Youth Council also feeds into the Scottish
Youth Parliament which is the only national elected body of young
people of its kind in Europe.
