Housing and Council Tax Benefit

You may be entitled to Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit.

Anyone elderly, unemployed, long-term sick, on a low income or getting Income Support/Job Seekers Allowance, could be entitled to help with their rent and Council Tax.  If you think you might qualify for Housing and Council Tax Benefit, you should contact Pullar House on 01738 476049 or one of our Area Housing Teams for a claim form.  If you find it useful, and you ask us, we can help you to complete the form.

How Benefit is calculated

The amount of benefit you receive will depend on:
  • How much rent and/or Council Tax you pay
  • Your weekly income and that of your partner (if applicable)
  • Any savings or capital which you or your partner have
  • Your age and the age of any member of your family who lives with you
  • Whether anyone else lives with you (a lodger for instance)

We have produced a Claimants Guide on Housing & Council Tax Benefit which gives further details and is available from Pullar House or Area Offices.  You can also find out more about Housing and Council Tax Benefit by following the links on the panel to the right.
