Greyfriars House

Greyfriars House is a 27 bedroomed hostel in Perth city centre which the Council has owned since the 1950s. In the past few years it has gone through two major refurbishments to ensure that it is fit for purpose.

The hostel provides temporary accommodation for single homeless men and women. It is a direct access facility which means that when there are vacancies they can be offered to homeless people at any time of the day or night.

Bedrooms are not en suite, but there are bathroom and kitchen facilities on each floor. The shared laundry and communal lounge are both on the ground floor.

Residents at Greyfriars House have access to a range of support from staff, including social workers, and there are regular activities organised such as cooking demonstrations and movie nights.

The hostel is staffed 24 hours a day. The team includes a Hostel Manager, Team Leader, Social Workers, Hostel Support Workers and Hostel Assistants. They work together to make sure the residents are fully supported while staying at the hostel.

Greyfriars House is also the base for the emergency homeless service which offers advice and assistance to people needing access to homeless services outwith normal working hours. The emergency homeless team can be contacted at Greyfriars House, 55 Princes Street, Perth, or by phoning freephone telephone number 0800 917 0708.
