Parking and Garages
Parking
Most Council housing does not come with allocated parking.
If there is a parking space allocated to your property, you will be
made aware of this when you view the property.
If you normally park your vehicle on-street, you should ensure that
you familiarise yourself with any parking restrictions in your area
and comply with them accordingly. If you have a driveway or
some other form of off-street parking, you may use this to park
your vehicle. If you wish to create a driveway or other
off-street parking area, you must get permission before you begin
any work. You should submit your proposal in writing to your
local Area Housing Office.
Garage Sites
Perth & Kinross Council has a number of garage sites
throughout the Council area. These are available to rent with
the current weekly rent varying according to the location and
make-up of the site. You should note that only the site is
rented from the Council - you are responsible for supplying and
erecting a garage on the site and you are also responsible for
removing the garage if you decide to give up the site. You
may need planning consent before erecting a garage on a Council
site. The rental of garage sites is available to all
residents, even if they are not Council tenants. For further
information, please contact your local Area Housing Team.
Lock-ups
As well as offering sites for garages, the Council also rents
out lock-ups in various areas throughout Perth & Kinross.
These are pre-constructed garages which are ready for
use. From 4 April 2011 the weekly rent for
lock-ups is £6.98 (excluding VAT) - Council tenants do not
have to pay VAT on the rental of a lock-up. Lock-ups are
however available to all residents and the current weekly charge
for non-Council tenants is £8.38 (including VAT).
Location of Garage Sites/Lock-ups
A list of the locations of garage sites and lock-ups is
available in the downloads section. Some areas are more
popular than others and you may be assigned to a waiting list until
a vacancy becomes available. Contact your local Area Housing
Team for further information.
Restrictions of Use
Both garage sites and lock-ups are intended for the storage of
motor vehicles only. There are various specific restrictions
of use which are detailed in the missive of let or tenancy
agreement. Samples of these are available in the downloads
section.
