Direct Debit Drive

A long-term drive has been launched to encourage Tenants to pay
their rent by Direct Debit.
Currently, just 18% of our rents reach us by Direct Debit and
77% is collected in cash. Collecting rent by Direct Debit
costs the Council just 5 pence per transaction compared
to 50 pence per transaction for cash.
Potentially, there are significant savings to be made and these
savings could be invested in housing improvements.
Indeed, all of the money we save on rent collection costs will be
ploughed back into the quality of our houses.
