Housing and Council Tax Benefit

Housing and Council Tax Benefit is a National Welfare Benefit which is administered by the local authority. It provides assistance to those on a low income with meeting the costs for rent and Council Tax. 

Important changes to Housing Benefit are taking place from April 2013.  If you rent from Perth and Kinross Council or a Registered Social Landlord (for example, a Housing Association), it is advisable to find out more about these changes.

Over the last two years there has been a significant increase in demand for Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit due to the current economic downturn and Welfare Reform.
