Documents You Must Provide

If you rent your property from a Housing Association or a Private Landlord, you must provide proof of the rent that you are required to pay.  For the majority of applicants, this proof will be a tenancy agreement which must include the following key features:

  • The full name and address of the landlord(s);
  • The full name and address of any agent acting on behalf of the landlord;
  • The date the tenancy began;
  • Confirmation of the full address of the property being rented;
  • Confirmation of the amount of rent being charged;
  • Confirmation and breakdown (including amounts) for any services which may be included in this charge, for example, meals, gas, electricity and water charges;
  • How often the rent is charged (weekly, four weekly, or monthly for example);
  • The landlord or agent's signature;
  • The tenant's signature;
  • The date the document was signed;
