Documents You Must Provide
If you rent your property from a Housing Association or a Private Landlord, you must provide proof of the rent that you are required to pay. For the majority of applicants, this proof will be a tenancy agreement which must include the following key features:
- The full name and address of the landlord(s);
- The full name and address of any agent acting on behalf of the landlord;
- The date the tenancy began;
- Confirmation of the full address of the property being rented;
- Confirmation of the amount of rent being charged;
- Confirmation and breakdown (including amounts) for any services which may be included in this charge, for example, meals, gas, electricity and water charges;
- How often the rent is charged (weekly, four weekly, or monthly for example);
- The landlord or agent's signature;
- The tenant's signature;
- The date the document was signed;
