Local Housing Allowance Rates

Local Housing Allowance Rates - May 2012
Each month the Rent Registration Service tells us the maximum
rates of Local Housing Allowance for the 4 different areas
within Perth & Kinross. These rates then determine the maximum
amount of Housing Benefit payable to certain private sector
tenants. The figures are for different categories of dwelling .i.e.
based on the number of bedrooms. The Rent Officer’s rates are
representative of the median value of a range of rents that a
landlord might reasonably be expected to obtain in each of
these 4 areas. These areas are known as Broad Rental
Market Areas (BRMA).

Please note that although you may live within the Perth and Kinross
area, you may fall into a different BRMA for Local Housing
Allowance purposes. For example, a property in Blairgowrie
may fall into the Dundee and Angus BRMA and not Perth and
Kinross.
It is advisable that you visit the website for the Rent
Registration Service: www.scotland.gov.uk/lhafigures
in order to obtain a specific Local Housing Rate for your property
or the property which you intend to move to. You can enter
the postcode for the property in question and this will return the
specific rate.
