Small Repairs Scheme

The Care & Repair projects run Small Repairs Schemes which are available to older and disabled people who are owners or private tenants and whose repairs are not the responsibility of the landlord.
What is a Small Repair?
The Small Repairs scheme is able to help with minor disrepairs, security, safety measures and improving welfare. Typical examples of small repairs include;
Joinery - Put up curtain rails and shelves, fit window/door locks
Building - Repairs to front steps, patch roughcasting
Roofing - Replace slates, clean and repair rhones, replace cracked downpipes
Plumbing - Repair leaks, replace tap washers, unblock sinks
Electrical - Relocate sockets, install security lights, change lightbulbs
Glazier - Replace small window panes
The Small Repairs Scheme is not able to carry out interior decoration, garden work or repairs to outbuildings. The Care & Repair scheme is limited to the home.
Who Qualifies?
You will qualify if you are;
- Over pensionable age, or suffer from a disability
- Own your own home
- Have a net weekly income of less than £200 per week if single or £400 per week if a couple
Housing Association, Council and Private tenants can apply as long as the repair is the responsibility of the occupant and the landlord has has agreed to the repair.
