Housing Grants
Maintaining a house or flat in a good condition is ultimately
the responsibility of the owner(s). It is in their interest to
carry out necessary repairs and improvements to keep the home
in good condition and maintain its value.
However, the government and Scottish Ministers are committed to
making sure that everyone has decent, house they can afford. Poor
housing can affect people's health, it may be a danger to the
public and it has a negative effect on the local
environment. It is recognised that some people may need
assistance with arranging for improvements and Perth and Kinross
Council, like all councils, has published a Scheme of Assistance
(see link on right-hand side of this page).
In the meantime some mandatory grants remain available for home adaptations for disabled people but
all other discretionary grants have been stopped in Perth and
Kinross.
