Owner-Occupation

Last updated | 25/04/2007

In Perth & Kinross, as in the rest of Scotland, owner-occupation is the dominant tenure with around 66% of households either owning their homes outright or, more commonly, with a mortgage (Census 2001).

The Perth & Kinross area is a very popular place to live and a significant proportion of privately-owned properties are purchased by people who wish to move into the area.  The housing market has been strong in recent years with around 2,300 transactions per year.  This represents a turnover of around 5% of the owner-occupied stock.

In this section, you'll find information about different types of owner-occupation as well as advice on buying to let and purchasing second or holiday homes.
