Landlord Accreditation Scheme
Perth & Kinross Council, in association with local landlords and letting agents, has developed a Landlord Accreditation Scheme. The scheme will give recognition to landlords and letting agents who provide quality properties and a professional tenancy management service.
The overall aims of the Voluntary Landlord Accreditation Scheme are to;
- Promote good property conditions and high management standards in the private rented sector
- Provide accredited landlords and letting agents with enhanced status within the local housing market
- Provide tenants or prospective tenants with the opportunity to make informed choices about their accommodation based on an assurance of quality
The Scottish Government is promoting accreditation schemes as an effective means of improving the private-rented sector. Whilst many landlords do provide safe and good quality accommodation for their customers, there are concentrations of poor housing in the private-rented sector.
The scheme is open to all landlords and letting agents who let properties in the Perth & Kinross Council area. The scheme was developed by a working group containing Perth & Kinross Officers, local landlords and letting agents in consultation with the Scottish Association of Landlords and the Scottish Rural Property and Business Association.
