Civil partnerships
Civil Partnerships are a way of giving adult same-sex couples
the opportunity to enter into a binding commitment to each
other.
Couples are required to give notice of intention to register at
a local authority registration office and can sign the civil
partnership register 15 days later. Civil Partnership notice
forms and information regarding fees may be obtained from any
Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Scotland or you can
download notices from http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk. Further information on our fees can be
found
here.
The ceremony can take the form of simply signing the register in
front of the registrar and two witnesses, or the couple can opt for
a ceremony designed to meet their wishes.
Ceremonies can be held within a registration office or at a
venue approved for the purpose. If a preferred venue is
not already approved, a temporary approval can be considered.
