Marriage and Civil Partnership Ceremonies in Approved
Venues
Civil marriages and partnerships can take place
outwith a Registration Office, at an
approved venue. Approval can be given to Fixed Premises, eg a
country house or hotel, for one, two or three years at a cost of
£130, £230 or £325 to the venue or
£75 for a one-off event.
Temporary approval can also be given for Non-Fixed Premises, eg
a Marquee.
If your chosen venue is not already approved you can apply for
temporary approval at a cost of £75.
If you wish your ceremony to take place in an approved venue
conducted by a Marriage Officer, contact the Perth Registrars'
Office well in advance to book a Marriage Officer for the required
date and place and to receive advice on legalities - as soon as
possible, but preferably 6 months before the date of the
marriage.
The Marriage Officer who will perform your ceremony will contact
you before the date of the wedding and preferably meet with you to
finalise the arrangements for the ceremony.
It is your choice whether or not you would wish extra readings
and vows to be made during the ceremony, but these must be of a
non-religious nature, as should any music before and immediately
after the ceremony.
