Getting Married

The Heart of Scotland

At the very heart of Scotland, on the banks of the River Tay and surrounded by glorious countryside, lies the beautiful City and Royal Burgh of Perth.

First settled more than 8,000 years ago, Perth was once the capital of Scotland, the meeting place of the Scottish Parliament and home to Scotland's kings.  In the 1800's, Sir Walter Scott described Perth as "the most varied and beautiful" city in Scotland and this is as true today as it was then.

Today, the past blends seamlessly with the contemporary, offering an elegant prosperous town with a rich history and a traditionally warm welcome for visitors.

Perth is often referred to as 'The Fair City' and it is easy to see why.  A regular "Britain in Bloom" award winner, Perth is framed by splendid parks, colourful gardens and riverside settings, each offering picturesque views.  Couples often choose to have their wedding ceremonies performed and/or photographed at the many excellent water-side or garden locations available.

Due to its central position in Scotland, Perth has always been an important trading and market town, evident in the Georgian facades, terraces and crescents.  The fine buildings of the city are often utilised for cultural events.

The area boasts a wide choice of exceptional venues for celebrations and events of any kind, from historic venues and local castles to country houses and many quality hotels.

Recently declared as a city offering the best quality of life in the UK, Perth is a vibrant and attractive place, offering residents and visitors an abundance of social and recreational opportunities within the town and beautiful surrounding countryside.  Excellent shopping, fine dining, entertainment and cultural experiences together with first class sport and leisure facilities all combine in the perfect centre for everyone to enjoy.

With its central location, Perth is easy to reach by car, train or bus.  Whichever way you travel to Perth, we guarantee you will pass through some of Scotland's most beautiful and breathtaking scenery.

Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports are within one hour's travelling distance, Dundee Airport is less than half an hour away.
