Public procession

Public Processions, marches and parades within Perth and Kinross are approved by Perth & Kinross Council.  The Council works closely with Tayside Police to ensure that these events are organised in a safe manner and cause minimal disruption and inconvenience.

In terms of rules laid down by the Scottish Parliament governing public processions, organisers of public processions must give the Council at least 28 days notice of an intention to hold a public procession by completing and returning a notice of public procession form [PDF: 33Kb], together with the Risk Assessment Form attached thereto.

To ensure that communities are aware of public processions, marches and parades in their area, Committee Services will publish details of all applications for public processions on the Perth and Kinross Council website.

Most public processions, marches and parades held in the Perth and Kinross area are traditional, annual events which usually pass without incident.  If, however, you wish to comment on a public procession which is planned in your area, you can do so in writing to the address shown below at least three weeks before the public procession is due to take place.
