Facade enhancement

What is the facade enhancement scheme?

Under the Scheme Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust will design and administer the implementation of façade improvements, or grant assistance will be given towards improvements drawn up and supervised by property owners' own architects or professional advisors.

What sort of scheme will get a grant?

Priority for façade improvements will be given to shop-fronts of quality or speciality independent retailers, traditional public houses and Statutory Listed Buildings of architectural or historic interest.

Where does the scheme apply?

Proposals will be supported throughout Perth and particularly in those areas identified for improvement in the Perth Area Local Plan and the Central Area Local Plan, including

  • George Street
  • St Paul's Square
  • South Methven Street
  • South Street
  • Bridgend
  • Craigie Cross
  • St John Street

What sort of improvement will be funded?

The type of improvements will vary according to the architectural character, condition and location of the property. Traditional or contemporary designs could include

  • Repainting of frontages
  • New colour schemes
  • New shop signs and awnings
  • The restoration or re-design of columns, pilasters, fascias and stall-risers

In exceptional circumstances there will be support for residential properties above shops and elements such as windows may be eligible for grant-aid.

Where can I get more information?

You should I get in touch with PKHT for details and a copy of the application form'.
