North Inch Golf Course
The North Inch Golf Course is one of the oldest in Scotland.
A mix of links and parkland in character, it can offer the resident
and visitor alike with a pleasant and varied game.
Situated on the banks of the River Tay and only a short iron shot
from classical Georgian-Perth, we are located in the Scottish
Heartlands, which means we are no more than an hours' drive
away for most Scottish golfers.
The course
The course is a relatively short with a total distance for the
18 holes of 5442 yds off the medal tees for a par of 68 shots. This
gives some hope to the beginners and high handicap players. Even
with such a course there is something testing for the expert.
Outward 9 Holes
The first three holes are doglegged par 4s getting progressivly
harder with the third a most difficult par 4 for the high handicap
player. The following 2 holes are a relativly easy par 3 then
par 4 which should be within the range of most players. The
outward nine is completed with a difficult par 3, Ok if you hit the
green but danger especially on the right (Out of Bounds). This is
followed by a blind par 4. A short tee shot to the top of the hill
or a really long tee shot to the bottom far left is needed,
anything else will lose at least one stroke. The final 2 holes
should be taken in regulation with a simple dog leg par 4 followed
by a short par 3.
Inward 9 Holes
Starts with a a straight par 3 followed by a devilish dogleg par
4. Most attempts to play around or over the large tree at the
corner of the dog leg end in disaster. This hole is followed by a
straight par 4 and then the first of the par 5s. This is a straight
hole the only difficulty is avoiding the ditch 70 yards from the
flag.
The 14th and 15th holes are a long par 3 and a straight par 4
respectively. The 15th should be easy but many a golfer is
drawn to the Tay that runs along the left of the hole. The next
hole is the shortest on the course (79 yds). Again an easy par
3 if you hit the green but there are bunkers and the river to
capture the wayward tee shot. Then follows the 17th a straight par
4.
The final hole, a par 5 finishes against a classical Georgian-Perth
backdrop, to complete an enjoyable game.
