Access Forum 2008

The Perth and Kinross Local Access Forum has met twice so far in 2008;
- 28th February - Forum Meeting
- 22nd May - Open Meeting and AGM
Meetings scheduled for the rest of 2008 are;
- 29th May - Forum Meeting
- 28th August - Forum Meeting
- 27th November - Forum Meeting
Meetings are usually held in the evening and in Perth.

Members 2008
The members of the Local Access Forum in 2008 were elected on May 22nd and will be posted on this page shortly. The 2007 members are shown below;
Agencies/Public Bodies:
Bob Ellis (Vice Convener)
The Council representative is Bob Ellis.
Mike Shepherd
Mike represents Scottish Natural Heritage.
Mike Strachan
James represents the Forestry Commission Scotland.
Fiona Meikle
Fiona is Environmental Tourism Manager with VisitScotland Perthshire
Community
Nick Cole (Convener)
Nick is a member of Strathmore and the Glens Rural Partnership, Chairperson
Blairgowrie High School Board, Chairman of Blairgowrie and District Next
Steps Walking Group, Vice Chair of East Perthshire Access Network, and a
director of Meigle Community Trust.
Andrew Thompson
Andrew lives in Dunning and is a member of Friends of the Ochils.
Sandy Simpson
Sandy Simpson, a farmer, is Chairman of the local branch of the Royal
Highland Education Trust, a Director of Rural Services Scotland (formerly
Perthshire Machinery Ring) and a member of the Perth & Kinross Agricultural
Forum.
Peter Pearson
Peter is Chair of Methven and District Community Council and is a walker and
cyclist.
Recreation
Elspeth Pentland
Elspeth is an active member of Bycycle (perth & Kinross Cycling Forum) and walks with the SWRI Rural Walkers. Stepped down and was replaced at election by:
Evelyn Scobie
Evelyn works part-time at Perth College in the Materials Production unit.
Mary Conacher
Mary was the Access Officer for the Scottish Canoe Association and a canoe
instructor for many years.
Ron Payne
Ron is a retired electrical engineer and now has more time to devote to his
mountaineering interests of hill and mountain walking, rock climbing and ski
touring.
Judith Belford
British Horse Society Tayside representative.
Landowner/Manager
Hugh Anderson
Hugh is currently Assistant Factor for Mansfield Estates.
George Lawrie
George is a farmer and Chairman of the Landuse and Environment Committee for the National Farmers Union (Scotland). George stepped down and was replaced at election by:
Edward Stewart
Edward is a farmer with a working knowledge of rural regeneration. He
represents the National Farmers Union of Scotland and is also a member of
the Royal Highland Agricultural Society
Malcolm Strang Steel
Malcolm is a solicitor and farmer.
Alastair Riddell
Alastair Riddell runs a small marginal family estate in the highlands of western
Perthshire.
