Final Public Consultation on Draft Core Paths Plan

Welcome to the Final Consultation on the Draft Core Paths Plan (the Plan) for Perth and Kinross. This Plan has been produced by the Council as required by the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 and shows a system of paths (core paths) which we believe is sufficient to provide reasonable public access throughout Perth and Kinross.

The Plan is presented as a series of maps showing all proposed core paths as well as supporting text explaining the concept of core paths and the core paths process we are following.

Viewing the plans

You can view the maps:

By clicking on the following map [PDF: 2.38Mb] which provides an overview of Perth and Kinross overlaid with numbered individual map areas covering the whole area of Perth and Kinross at scales appropriate to the density of the network.  Simply click on the numbered areas which will open up the relevant map.

Online by area -

You can also view the list of proposed core paths by Community Council areas [PDF: 531Kb]

Full details can be found in the Draft Core Paths Plan 2008 Final Consultation document [PDF: 25MB] which contains background information, maps and rationale in relation to the process.

How to make your views known

The public consultation allows everyone with an interest in the Plan to provide comments to either support or make an objection on the Plan to the Council. As this is the final public consultation all comments/objections will be made public and must be clearly attributed to you with your name and address shown. If a public inquiry is necessary any comments/objections which are unresolved will be forwarded to Ministers.

The key issue which you should address is:

"Is the Draft Core Paths Plan sufficient to provide reasonable access to the outdoors in Perth and Kinross?"

To make this easier we have provided a form which you can use to either support or object to the Plan. You can either:

Please ensure your comment reaches us within the formal consultation period and by 31 December 2008 at the latest.

If you would like any help in making your views known to us, pleas contact the Access Officers on 01738 475332 or email countryside@pkc.gov.uk.

What happens to your response?

All responses received will be acknowledged and recorded. Your response will be assessed and Council Officers will attempt to resolve any valid objections prior to presenting the Draft Core Paths Plan for possible adoption. If you have commented in the past please review the Plan to see if your views have been taken into account. If you submitted a written comment/objection during the informal consultation period and ticked the box to indicate that you wanted your response to be a formal response, we will include this within this formal consultation unless the issue has been resolved, or you write to ask us not to.

All comments/objections received will be made public, along with your name and address, within 4 weeks of the closing date of the consultation so others can view them.

Paths Groups

In some areas Paths Groups have formed and have been closely involved with developing the Plan in their communities.  Some have set up their own websites to promote their work! You can find links to these on the right-hand side of this page.
