Scone 200 Path Network
Celebrating the bicentenary of New Scone, the Scone 200 Path follows a circular route following quiet roads and paths, toward the view points of McDuffs Monument and the Lynedoch Obelisk.
During the development of Scone Palace, the village of Old Scone was moved to where Scone is based today. The last building to be moved was the Church, which was moved 200 years ago to its current position.
The Church graveyard today contains a memorial to David Douglas, one of Scotland's best know plant collectors, who introduced many trees (including the Douglas Fir) and other plants (such as Sunflowers) to Britain. The work of David Douglas, and many other plant collectors, is celebrated through the
Perthshire Big Tree Country Project.
The path is way marked and well signed, and follows well surfaced paths such as the path in the Den of Scone as well as quiet roads. The path is a little over 4 miles long, and is steep in places.
