Walking Festivals in Perth and Kinross

Walking festivals are a great way of getting out into areas of countryside that you haven't yet explored, or indeed, returning to areas that you have visited and experiencing them as a group! With transport laid on, linear paths can be walked that you may not have been able to explore on your own. Expert leaders lead many of the walks so you can confidently explore without the aid of a map as well as benefitting from the knowledge and experience that the leaders pass onto the group. Walking festivals are also a social event, mixing with folk both during the day as part of a group and also through the social events that often accompany walking festivals.

There are three walking festivals that Perth and Kinross Council supports;

The Blairgowrie and East Perthshire Walking Festival

Held in September/October each year based on the popular tourist town of Blairgowrie. Within easy reach of many of Scotland's munros, as well as some fantastic scenery and history, there are walks for all abilities. The festival increasingly caters for non-walkers, with mountain biking, climbing and horse riding as possibilities.

The Crieff Drovers Tryst Walking Festival

The walking festival takes place during the larger festival, the Crieff Drovers Tryst, a celebration of the cultural heritage in the form of the cattle markets that were held in Crieff. A range of walks are lead around the Strathearn area, taking in munros as well as lower level walks.

The Angus Glens Walking Festival

Held each May based on the town of Kirriemuir. Walks head into the Angus Glens, visiting iconic walks such as Jocks Road as well as exploring parts of the Cateran Trail.
