Dog Control

The Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2006 makes it an offence for anyone in charge of a dog to allow it to foul in any public place which the public has express or implied permission to have access over.  This includes any common passage, close, court, stair, back greens, garden, yard or other similar common area without lifting it immediately and disposing of it properly. In order to help you clean up after your dog the Council has made bags available (free of charge) from the follownig locations:

It is not an excuse to be unaware of the dog committing the offence so make sure you know where your dog is at all times.

This section, within the Environmental Health team, deals with the administration and enforcement of legislation relating to the following:

Dog Control & Welfare Officers respond to any requests in connection with education and promotion of dog related matters and, in this connection, regularly visit boarding and breeding establishments, schools, Community Councils and dog training clubs.

This section is also responsible for processing licences in connection with the Boarding of Animals and the Breeding of Dogs.
